The Thessaloniki Tourism Organization has released a video introducing a virtual reality (VR) travel application launched to promote Thessaloniki’s sites of interest to potential travelers to visit once it is safe to travel again.

While the city’s tourism organization urges all to stay home, due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, at the same times it takes a first step towards “the day after” in an aim to attract the interest of holidaymakers around the world.

With the new “Thessaloniki VR” app, tomorrow’s travelers can explore some of the city’s historic monuments, including the city’s Rotunda, Byzantine walls, waterfront area and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

“Through this experience, we wish to present Thessaloniki and its spirit to those who haven’t yet seen the city, as well as revive the memories of those who have visited Thessaloniki in the past,” the organization said.

The new video that introduces the app will be distributed to the offices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) abroad and to journalists all over the world that have participated in  fam trips organized by the Thesssaloniki Tourism Organization.

The organization created the video for the city to gain momentum from the positive image of Greece, considering the praise the country has received by media worldwide on its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Follow us to a virtual tour to Thessaloniki … #wheretomorrowshines,” the organization said.
