The United States Embassy in Athens on Monday informed American citizens, currently in Greece, on possible flight options for those wishing to return to the US due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.
“Commercial flights continue to operate… There are no plans for evacuation or chartered flights from Greece,” the embassy said in its daily update to US citizens in Greece regarding Covid-19 and local conditions.
According to the embassy’s special Covid-19 website, while there are no direct flights from Greece to the United States, the possible international departures from Greece in the next few days are the following:
Airlines with flights to the United States
United: London to Newark and San Francisco
Delta: London to Atlanta and Los Angeles
Air France/Delta: Paris to Los Angeles
Qatar Airways: Doha to multiple U.S. destinations (ATL, BOS, ORD, DFW, JFK, LAX, MIA, IAD)
Swiss Airlines: Zurich to Newark
Lufthansa: Frankfurt to Newark and Chicago
The list may not be exhaustive and is subject to change at any time by the airlines. Citizens are advised to contact the airlines directly for confirmation and ticketing.
The embassy reminds that the Department of State has issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory advising U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19.
