Zakynthos’ Navagio Beach is in Greece, GNTO ‘Reminds’ German Tour Operator
Navagio beach, Zakynthos
One of the world’s most photographed beaches, the famed Navagio Beach on the island of Zakynthos is in Greece, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) rectified this week after a German tour operator erroneously depicted it as being in Turkey.
The GNTO called on German operator Aldi Reisen to immediately remove the photo of the popular beach which had been included in its promo material for trips to Turkey under the title “Blue Trip to Turkey”.
The error was brought to the GNTO’s attention by a Greek tour agent. GNTO Secretary General Dimitris Fragakis called for the immediate removal of the ad on the German operator’s site and demanded that all relevant promotional material featuring the Navagio be withdrawn.
The German tour operator apologized for the mistake.

Meanwhile, Zakynthos MP Dionysios Aktypis issued a statement calling the company to issue a public apology.
“I take it for granted that you will proceed with immediate actions in order to correct this rather regrettable mistake. Furthermore, an official statement must be issued on your behalf, clarifying that ‘Navagio beach is in fact located on the Greek island of Zakynthos and not in Turkey,” said Aktypis in his statement.
Located on the northwestern part of Zakynthos, in the Ionian sea, Navagio has repeatedly been named one of the world best beaches attracting thousands of holidaymakers from across the globe.
