Award-winning Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos and renowned Hollywood actress Emma Stone are currently working on a new short film production in Greece, in collaboration with the Greek National Opera and non-profit organization NEON.
According to reports, Emma Stone arrived in Athens on Monday and checked into a hotel in the center of the Greek capital.
The film is said to be filmed on the island of Tinos in the Cyclades.
Apart from Stone, Lanthimos’ new film will also feature French actor Damien Bonnard.
The crew consists of renowned Greek artists such Set Designer Anna Georgiadou, Costume Designer Angelos Mentis, Director of Photography Thodoris Mihopoulos and Film Editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis.
The production is made possible thanks to a grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation aiming to enhance the Greek National Opera’s artistic outreach.
The film will be presented as part of an installation, accompanied by live orchestral ensembles on 22, 23 and 27 May 2020, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens.
Lanthimos’ new short film is the second commission for “The Artist on the Composer”, a three-year collaboration between the Opera and the NEON Organization for Culture and Development.
