Celestyal Cruises President Kostakis Loizou was honored for his significant contribution to the Greek cruise industry during the annual general assembly of the Association of Cruise Ship Owners and Maritime Agencies (EEKFN).

Held onboard the company’s Celestyal Crystal cruise ship on January 8, the event recognized prominent personalities of Greek shipping and local authorities.

“Celestyal Cruises is making systematic efforts to promote Greek destinations worldwide. Our commitment to [promote] the wider region and offer authentic Greek hospitality has been a strategic priority for us,” Loizou said while receiving the award from Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) President Angela Gerekou.

During the event, EEKFN members also cut the New Year cake (also known as vasilopita in Greek).

EEKFN President Theodoros Kontes said the extension of the tourism season in Greece could further support the development of Greek tourism, and referred to Celestyal’s decision to launch its winter itineraries in 2019.

Also present at the event were Shipping Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis, Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis, Secretary General for Tourism Kostantinos Loulis and Piraeus Mayor Yiannis Moralis.
