Royal Air Maroc to Join Oneworld Alliance in 2020
Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the Moroccan national carrier and the country’s largest airline, recently announced that it will officially become a full member of Oneworld, a global airline alliance, on March 31, 2020.
RAM will become the first African company to be a full member of Oneworld.
With its network of more than 100 destinations in 49 countries, Royal Air Maroc will add 34 new destinations and 21 countries to the alliance’s map bringing Oneworld’s network to 1,069 airports in 178 countries and territories.
RAM’s membership approval follows an unanimous vote of the alliance’s current 13 member companies in December. With this vote, the Oneworld members largely approved the assessment of the projects undertaken by the national airline since December 2018, the date on which it was invited to join the Alliance.
Some of the essential projects for the effective integration included the restatement of the airline’s booking classes in accordance with the standards applied to the member companies of the Alliance, as well as the consistency of its loyalty programs with Oneworld standards.
In addition, the company has launched a vast training program for employees in all customer service positions (call centers, commercial agencies, stop overs and on board).
Moreover, the Alliance audited the company security systems and confirmed that they comply with the best, recommended practices.
Oneworld’s member airlines include American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LATAM, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, S7 Airlines and SriLankan Airlines.
