The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) presented Greece’s tourism offerings to the readers of luxury travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller during a special event held recently in London.

“The initiative aimed at highlighting the authentic thematic forms of tourism offered in Greece, and specifically focused on the country’s history and culture,” GNTO said in an announcement.

According to the GNTO, the event was attended by a selected group of readers of high socio-economic status that on average make six trips a year to international destinations

The event’s keynote speaker was award-winning historian, writer, radio and television presenter Bettany Hughes.

Having aired on BBC, Channel 4, Netflix, Discovery, PBS, The History Channel, National Geographic, BBC World and ITV, Hughes’ shows have attracted a total of 250 million viewers worldwide, the GNTO said.

Hughes has a deep knowledge of Greece’s history, and during fall she visited Greece to film for her new television series that focuses on Odysseus’ ten-year journey from Troy to Ithaki.

During the event, the head of the GNTO in UK & Ireland Emy Anagnostopoulou presented the latest developments in Greece’s tourism industry, under the coordination of Condé Nast Traveller Acting Executive Retail Editor & Events Director Thea Darricotte.
