The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) has announced that during the winter months it will continue to promote Greece to foreign tourism markets through familiarization (fam) and press trips.
According to an announcement, during the first ten months of the year, the GNTO has already carried out more than 100 fam and press trips to promote Greece to markets abroad.
Guests on these trips included a number of journalists, tour operators and opinion leaders from significant international tourism markets in efforts to promote Greece through major media organizations, and include Greek destinations in holiday packages of leading travel agencies.
In early November, the organization’s office in Germany organized a fam trip to Athens for the publisher and a journalist of FrontRowSociety.net, an online platform that provides information on special destinations, luxury hotels, award-winning restaurants, gastronomy and automobiles.
Also, the GNTO’s French office is currently holding a press trip (until November 29) for a two-member crew of “Invitation au Voyage”, a show broadcast on European TV channel Arte. Filming locations will include Delphi, Athens, Thessaloniki, Dion, Vergina and the islands of Rhodes and Leros.
The show’s episodes on Greece will focus on Alexander the Great, Sophocles, the medieval city of Rhodes and the connection of the Dodecanese islands with their Italian past.
In addition, during November 26-29 and November 30 – December 3, GNTO Austria will host seven Swiss and seven Austrian tour operators in Athens. The aim is to promote the Greek capital as a city break destination to the two European tourism markets.
