Kalamaki Beach Resort’s Cleanup Event in Corinth Sees Great Turnout
Over 150 people embraced the recent cleanup action held in Paleo Kalamaki, near Corinth, by the Kalamaki Beach Resort.
Organized for the third year, the action aimed to raise awareness on environmental issues and the value of recycling.
According to an announcement, the result was impressive as participants collected glass and plastic bottles, aluminum cans, cigarette butts, paper, lids, glasses, even debris, leaving the area clean.
In addition, participants planted a pepper in the forest as a symbolic gesture for the start of a tree planting activity.
The general manager of the Kalamaki Beach Resort and head of the initiative, Marilena Stathopolou, thanked all participants for the impressive outcome of the environmental activity that has been established as an annual event.
According to Stathopoulou, similar events will follow in collaboration with local bodies.
Among this year’s participants were members of the Greek Mountaineering Association of Corinth, the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing, the “Experience Corinthia” tourism initiative, the Municipality of Corinth, the Municipality of Loutraki-Perachora and Agioi Theodoroi and the Evaggelismos Psychosocial Care Center.
Students from the Isthmia Elementary School and the Isthmia High School also attended to help out.
The initiative was also supported by the Evroproodos training center, “Experience Corinthia” and Greek Travel Pages (GTP).
