6th Athens International Tourism Expo to Promote Greece’s MICE Industry

Greece’s MICE industry and future opportunities top the agenda of the 6th Athens International Tourism Expo (AITE) 2019, scheduled to be held during December 6-8 at the Metropolitan Expo in the Greek capital.

Organized by Leaderexpo – Leadertech, this year’s event will host 300 exhibitors from Greece and abroad, as well as over 150 hosted buyers – tour operators, travel agencies PCOs and DMCs – from 50 countries. Among them are the Center of National Research of France, Ericsson (Southern Europe), Casta Diva Events (Italy) , ESET (Russia), Tama Group (Southeastern Asia), Platinum Services (Italy) and Tour Passion (France).

ΑΙΤΕ will also host representatives of national associations of tourism agencies from Israel Bulgaria, Serbia, Cyprus, Egypt and India among other countries.

The number of B2B meetings is expected to exceed 8,000.

“The core of this expo is the B2B meetings that take place every year between hosted buyers and exhibitors. These meetings are now more essential than ever, after the collapse of Thomas Cook and its subsidiaries, as the expo will host [foreign] tour operators that offer charter flights and seek for new collaborations in Greece,” Christofer Papadiotis, General Manager of Leaderexpo – Leadertech told reporters during a press conference on Monday.

As part of its efforts to attract leading MICE companies and professionals from the international travel market, Leaderexpo – Leadertech this year partnered with B2B directory Evintra, which is exclusively dedicated to the MICE and travel industry.

Meanwhile, a presentation by Toposophy Head of Research Pandazis Pastras will focus on destination marketing and the millennials, while GIATA Sales Manager Hotel Products Reinhard Gangelmayer will speak on the latest developments in travel software.

Furthermore, teachers and students of the School of Tourism & Culinary Arts of IEK DELTA will prepare the meals of the hosted buyers during an impressive “Open Kitchen-Live Cooking” event open to all.

AITE 2019 is taking place under the auspices of the ministries of Tourism and Shipping, the Greek National Tourism Organization and the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), among other organizations.
