Volotea Sees Strong Performance in Greece in Summer 2019
Volotea, the airline connecting mid- and small-sized European cities, this summer carried more than three million passengers with 96 percent seat load.
According to an announcement, Greece was the country in which the airline increased the most from June to August – 25 percent up in comparison with the same three months last year – carrying more than half a million passengers.
In total, Volotea recorded almost half a million jump in number of passengers year-on-year, resulting in more than 1.6 million passengers in Italy and 1.3 million passengers in France. Spain, like Greece, also increased significantly with Volotea carrying more than half a million passengers to the country.
Best operational performance in Athens
From June to August, more than 240,000 passengers traveled from the Greek capital to any of the ten routes served from Volotea’s Athens base. A 98 percent seat load rate has been reached during these three months (100 percent in August) in more than 1,700 flights operated from/to Athens.
According to Volotea, operationally it achieved the best performance in Athens ever, with a punctuality rate OTP 180 of 99.2 percent and a completion level of 99.5 percent from June to August.
Meanwhile, before the summer, Volotea invested 15 million euros in an ambitious plan to protect operations and increase customer satisfaction that has proven to be successful.
Volotea also added six additional Airbus A319 aircraft this year, for a total fleet of 36 units.
In 2019, Volotea opened 41 new routes to serve a lineup of 319 routes, operating flights to more than 80 mid and small-sized cities in 13 countries: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Malta, Austria, Ireland, Luxembourg and Morocco.
The airline expects to carry between 7.5 and 8 million passengers in 2019.
