Aiming to promote cycling tourism in Greece, NatTour, a nonprofit organization promoting sustainable tourism practices, and the Bike Friendly program have launched the “Greek Bike Specialist” seal, a new certification for independent travel agents, travel agencies and tour operators.

According to an announcement, participants who successfully complete the online learning and certification process of the Greek Bike Specialist program will be able to organize trips for their customers to Greece’s bike friendly destinations in collaboration with the members of the Bike Friendly network, which includes hotels and bike rentals among others.

Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to learn more on the benefits of cycling in Greece and the country’s cycling routes, as well as the requirements set by NatTour for becoming a Bike Friendly Hotel and a Bike Friendly Partner.

“The Bike Friendly Hotels and Bike Friendly Partners constitute a national network of hotels, accommodations and partners who are passionate and eager to facilitate cycling enthusiasts. They will now be able to join an international network of tour operators specializing in Greece’s cycling tourism. With a wide range of ‘bike friendly’ collaborations, NatTour aims to further promote alternative forms of tourism – especially cycling tourism – in Greece,” said Vicky Karantzavelou, public relations officer of NatTour.

To obtain the Greek Bike Specialist certification, tourism agencies and tour operators need to enter the dedicated online platform, register and participate in the e-learning course. Participants must successfully complete an evaluation quiz in order to receive the seal.
