GNTO Chief Sets Priorities for Greek Tourism
The new president of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), Angela Gerekou, has announced plans for the promotion of Greek tourism, which include the adoption of sustainable practices and technology innovations.
During the board’s first meeting on Friday, Gerekou referred to the organization’s operation and spoke of ways to promote Greece to its target markets.
“Our priority is to increase revenues and improve quality in the tourism sector, through the promotion of modern sustainability practices and the use of new digital promotion tools,” she said.
GNTO plans to promote each of Greece’s 13 regions, develop thematic tourism products and highlight Greece as the ideal country for hosting international events related to culture, sports and society.
The organization will also develop a new communications and crisis management plan, which will be available in the case of incidents impacting tourism.
Gerekou also called on Greece’s citizens and enterprises to stand at the organization’s side and contribute to its efforts to promote Greek tourism with their proposals and endeavors.
Furthermore, she announced the establishment of 2020 as the Year of Greek Tourism, with events that will mark the celebrations for GNTO’s 70 years of operation and the organization’s contribution to the development of Greek tourism.
