Elia Ermou Athens Hotel’s Rooftop Restaurant Presents New Menu

Athens View Balcon restaurant

The Athens View Balcon rooftop restaurant of the Elia Ermou Athens hotel has unveiled its new menu, which blends Greek and Mediterranean traditional cuisine with modern gastronomy, combining both flavor and aesthetic, for the delight of diners.

Executive Chef Andreas Yiannopoulos

Specially created by executive chef Andreas Yiannopoulos, the menu features flavors with ingredients from various Greek destinations including Thrace, Kalavryta, Tinos, Kalamata and Crete.

The Athens View Balcon restaurant is located on the seventh floor of the Elia Ermou Athens hotel, and also offers breathtaking views to Athens’ landmark sites, including the Acropolis and the Plaka district.

What to expect of the new menu

According to Chef Yiannopoulos, the menu will take guests on a “trip of flavors”… straight to the concept of Greek hospitality.

“Our main aim and philosophy is to introduce authentic traditional dishes,” Chef Yiannopoulos told GTP Headlines.

Guests can indulge in a vast selection of starters, such as the “Crusted feta cheese” (feta cheese in crusted pie with grilled vegetables, confit of cherry tomatoes, black sesame seeds and pomegranate distillate) or the “Codfish balls” (codfish fillet in crust of herbs and beer, served with black fava (split peas) cooked with cuttlefish ink). Another interesting choice is the “Moussaka in small roll” starter (authentic traditional moussaka recipe, wrapped in leaf yufka, served with yogurt dressing).

For the main course, the menu offers a variety of unique dishes with beef, pork seafood and pasta. Meat lovers are recommended to try the “Braised beef” (Oven-cooked in a casserole dish with fresh tomato sauce with peppers, mushrooms, coated with graviera cheese) or the “Black pork from a Greek farm” dish (Kontosouvli of black pork cooked according to a traditional Greek recipe with pepper, onion, tomato cooked in chickpeas soup, served with baby potatoes, parmesan chips and sage sauce). Those who prefer seafood will find what they are looking for as well.

All dishes can be paired with delicious wine options.

The menu ends off with a unique selection of desserts for every taste.

“I am proud to have created this menu. The response I receive from diners everyday, makes me feel that I also am doing my part in the promotion of Greek gastronomy and hospitality and this inspires me to continue this effort with my team,” Chef Yiannopoulos told GTP Headlines.

The four-star Elia Ermou Athens hotel opened its doors in December 2018, right in the heart of Athens’ commercial center. It features 123 rooms and nine suites –  many overlooking the Acropolis – with state-of-the-art technology amenities including wifi, and private jacuzzis.
