UK’s ‘Evening Standard’ Highlights Naxos’ ‘Dreamy Beaches’
The unique beaches of Naxos are featured in an extensive article, which was recently published on the website of the “Evening Standard”, UK’s free daily newspaper.
Travel journalist, Laura Hampson, visited the island after a meeting in November 2018, with representatives of the Municipality of Naxos and the Small Cyclades at WTM London 2018.
“Santorini has the dramatic clifftops, the stunning sunsets and the whimsy walkways – but the one thing it’s lacking? Dreamy beaches,” Hampson says in the article.
“Just a two-hour ferry from Santorini, a five-hour ferry from Athens or a 40-minute flight from the Greek capital… the largest of the Cyclades is often overlooked for its glitzier neighbors – Paros and Ios are right next door. Yet, if you want a holiday where you can find hidden beaches and won’t be vying with other tourists for the same sunset pic, head to Naxos where the sea shimmers and the beaches are plenty,” she adds.
The “Evening Standard” also refers to the island’s gastronomy wealth, accommodation options and water sports activities.
“Through our dynamic presence in international media, we wish to send a message to special interest travelers, that our islands can offer the quality they seek for their vacations,” said the Mayor of Naxos and the Small Cyclades, Dimitris Lianos.
According to the municipality, the website of the “Evening Standard” receives over 14,000,000 visitors per month.
