Santorini, Rhodes Tourism Stakeholders Invited to Design Destination Plan
Tourism stakeholders and residents on the islands of Rhodes and Santorini have until July 31 to provide feedback online (www.destinationmanagementplan.gr/) on issues and challenges they are facing with the aim to create of a viable destination management plan for the future.
The initiative is being carried out through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and is part of a pilot project – supported by the chambers of the Dodecanese and Cyclades islands and the Τourism Μinistry – involving all stakeholders towards the establishment of an operational model which can be applied to other destinations countrywide.
Stakeholders can now find useful information on the site as well as provide their feedback via questionnaires.
Additional working meetings have been scheduled in the early fall in order to fine-tune the plans, produce a relevant destination plan guide; organize information events to disseminate the results across tourism stakeholders in efforts to encourage similar ventures at other destinations; and assist local implementation bodies to create structures for the effective management and monitoring of the plan.
The pilot project is funded by the EU and will be fully implemented by October 2019 with the collaboration of Greek (Toposophy) and UK (Team Tourism Consulting and Yellow Railroad consultants.
