‘The Alex’ is the first city hotel of the Santikos Collection
The Alex, the brand new property of Santikos Collection for 2019, is set to open its doors in the Greek port city of Piraeus on the Athens Riviera, just 15 minutes from the city center. The hotel will open on Tuesday, July 25.
“Location is everything and we’ve found the perfect spot with 180-degree views of the coast of Athens,” Katerina Santikou, Business Development Director for the Santikos Collection, said.
The property is home to 34 rooms and suites offering far reaching views of the Athens Riviera and the Acropolis.
“We are are thrilled that our vision to create a simple, minimalist yet luxurious, laid-back space that will attract a young professional, local and international audience has become a reality,” she added.
The hotel has a strong focus on food with two dining options for guests – The Botanist, a café & bistro area located on the ground floor and the Nest, a rooftop restaurant and bar serving authentic Greek cuisine with a modern twist.
Piraeus is one of the oldest parts of Attica and is currently going through a revival and surge in popularity. Back in the day, it was a favorite spot for VIPs such as Onassis, Kallas, Niarchos and Kennedy.
Getting from Piraeus to the center of Athens for the day to visit sites such as the Acropolis and the National Museum of Contemporary Art, is quick and easy. Also from Piraeus, guests can head out and visit nearby islands such as Spetses and Hydra.
Moreover, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC), which includes the new facilities for the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera, is just 10 minutes from the hotel.
The Alex is the Santikos Collection’s first city hotel and fifth property within the portfolio, joining the Marpunta Resort on the island of Alonnisos, the Santikos Mansion in Pelion and the Aegean Suites & Princess, both located on Skiathos.
