Top SUP Athletes to Participate in 3rd Corfu Emerald Cup Event

Top SUP athletes from all over the world are expected to gather on the Ionian island of Corfu, between June 15-16, to participate in the 3rd Corfu Emerald Cup 2019, the annual stand-up paddle surfing (SUP) event.

Among the participants will be the five times world SUP champion, Connor Baxter.

The Cofru Emerald Cup will be held as part of the SUP Euro Tour Grand Slam, on the coast of Angsana Corfu, a luxury resort – member of the Banyan Tree group.

The event will include three races: The SUP Pro Euro Tour for professionals that will cover a distance of 14,800m;  the SUP Fun, which will cover 3,500m and is open to all;  and the 3,500m open water swimming race.

All SUP races will start and end at the Angsana Corfu beach, while the open water swimming race will start from the Pontikonisi islet and end at Angsana Corfu.

The Corfu Emerald Cup is also a “green race”, aiming to protect the coasts of Corfu through recycling and voluntary beach cleanup events in collaboration with the local “Let’s Do this Corfu” organization and “AllforBlue”, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of the oceans and its inhabitants.

The 3rd Corfu Emerald Cup will be held under the auspices of the Municipality of Corfu, the SUP Euro, the Hellenic Surf & SUP Association and the Corfu Sailing Club.
