Greek Tourism Trainers and Educators Set Up Association
Professional tourism trainers and educators announced this week that they had set up a new association aiming to serve as a ground for exchange.
The Association of Tourism Trainers and Educators (EETEK) is founded by instructors at tourism ministry schools across Greece as well as by sector professionals.
Among others the newly set up body aims to work towards the upgrade of tourism education and training, table proposals for educational programs and for the creation of new areas of specialization, develop cross-disciplinary research programs, provide consulting, and cooperate with other tourism-related bodies, private and public entities in Greece and abroad.
In a statement the association said that “destination Greece is being promoted in the wrong way, resulting in the potential visitor not recognizing the destination as something distinct”.
“The primary reason behind the establishment of EETEK has been the random and desperate efforts to adapt to new conditions created by demand and global technological developments,” said the association in a statement.
