MR&H Forum Returns to Athens, Aims to Explore Greece’s Tourism Opportunities

Greece’s dynamic tourism growth and investment activity will take center stage at the Mediterranean Resort & Hotel Real Estate (MR&H) Forum, scheduled to take place for the second consecutive year in Athens, during October 29-31.

In its fifth year, the MR&H Forum is organized by Questex Hospitality Group and aims to explore the investment, development and operation opportunities of resorts and hotels within the Mediterranean region.

“The tourism and hospitality prosperity that Greece is enjoying is leading to significant activity from serious investors and developers. As a conference host, our role is to facilitate these meetings, connections and interactions in an environment that is educational and energizing,” said Alexi Khajavi, Managing Director of EMEA Hospitality + Travel Group at Questex.

The dynamic growth of tourism in Greece continues to boost investment activity throughout the country and the wider Mediterranean region.

“Half of all funding under Greece’s 2016 development law has been channeled into tourism ventures, while more than 400 investment plans have been submitted in the last three years to the tourism ministry for approval,” said Greece’s Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development, George Tziallas, during the MIPIM property market event held recently in Cannes, France.

This statement is supported by data recently released by Horwath HTL, which revealed that Greece is a prime investment opportunity for international hotel chains as only 1.7 percent of total units currently operate under an international brand.

Stakeholders from leading operators including Thomas Cook, Club Med and Nobu will attend the event alongside investors from KSL, Starwood Capital Group and Dolphin Capital.

Furthermore, Enterprise Greece is once again supporting the forum.

Registration for the MR&H 2019 is now open and delegate tickets can be purchased at an early bird rate until the end of May.

Further information and registration details are available on the conference website: www.mrandh.com.
