Star Alliance has been named “Airline Alliance of the Year” for the third time in a row at the Air Transport Awards event.

The Air Transport Awards recognizes excellence and innovation in various categories of the aviation sector. According to an announcement, it is the only “industry to industry” awards granted since 2012, acknowledging the best companies and personalities that improve and contribute to the development of air transportation worldwide.

The winners of the Air Transport Awards 2019 were announced during a special ceremony recently held in Ecali, located north of Athens‘ city center.

During the event, a panel of aviation industry experts selected Star Alliance in recognition of its exceptional contribution to the travel industry.

“Being presented with this important accolade is a testament to our continued focus on making the customer journey better,” said Star Alliance CEO Jeffrey Goh.

“This promise is at the very heart of what we do, and I would like to thank our customers for their continued loyalty and trust. We are exceptionally proud that the accomplishments of our more than 447,000 employees in the Star Alliance family have been consistently recognized by the prestigious Air Transport Awards,” he added.

The Star Alliance network was established in 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance to offer worldwide reach, recognition and seamless service to the international traveler. Its acceptance by the market has been recognized by numerous awards, including the Air Transport World Market Leadership Award and Best Airline Alliance by both Business Traveller Magazine and Skytrax.

Overall, the Star Alliance network currently offers more than 18,800 daily flights to over 1,300 airports in 193 countries.

According to Goh, as digital applications continue to become an ever-increasing component of the customer journey, Star Alliance continues to innovate by embracing and applying new technologies to make the customer journey and experience seamless, even when schedule disruptions occur.
