North Greece’s Finest Wines for Tasting at 15th ‘Voroina’ Event in Athens
Wine producers from Northern Greece will gather in Athens on February 3 to participate in the “Voroina” annual wine tasting event, which will be held at the Grande Bretagne Hotel.
Organized for the 15th year by the “Wines of North Greece” Association, Voroina (meaning “of Northern Greece”) aims to bring the region’s top wine producers together with wine lovers and professionals from all over the country.
“Voroina will present the wealth of Northern Greece’s vineyards, which produce some of Greece’s most distinctive grape varieties – indigenous and international… as well as exemplar labels and spirits… that have defined the course Greek wines in the Greek and international markets,” the “Wines of North Greece” Association said in an announcement.
During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to taste white wines; rosés and reds; dry, sparkling and sweet, as well as spirits and older vintages from a total of 25 different tables to be set by the Association’s members.
Furthermore, wine producers will bring new labels, experimental wines, fresh and older vintages, as well as wines of the 2018 harvest and older.
In addition, the association will hold a number of wine and gastronomy events before and after Voroina, starting on January 23 and ending February 3, in various locations around Athens. These will include cooking classes with award-winning chefs, as well as wine pairing and tasting events.
