Greece and Spain are among the favorite holiday destinations of German travelers for 2019, despite the boom in demand for Egypt and Turkey, TUI Germany announced this week.

According to TUI, travel continues to top the wish list of Germans for 2019, while January and February are usually the strongest months in terms of bookings.

Turkey is in the fast lane and currently recording three digit bookings. The country has moved up to third place in the ranking of the most popular travel destinations, building on the popularity of previous years. In addition to Turkey, Egypt has the highest growth in demand, while Cyprus is also gaining popularity.

Spain and Greece remain among the most popular destinations for German travelers, with many choosing the Balearic Islands, the Canaries and the Greek islands for their summer holidays.

TUI has significantly expanded its hotel offering in these destinations, especially for families, and is opening two new TUI Family concept hotels in Mallorca, and two on Crete and Corfu.

Budget-conscious vacationers also have a wider choice with the opening of new Suneo clubs in Greece and Spain.

Other popular destinations for 2019 are the Cape Verde Islands, Croatia and Germany.

Long-distance travel is also in high demand for the upcoming summer season, according to TUI Germany. The tour operator records a 20 percent increase for the segment.

In addition to the USA – the most booked long-haul destination in the summer – the Caribbean with Jamaica, Cuba and the Dominican Republic, as well as the destinations of the Indian Ocean, are in high demand.
