Golf Legend José María Olazábal Presents New Courses at Costa Navarino

José María Olazábal presented the plans for the two new golf courses set to be constructed at Navarino Hills.
Two-time Masters Champion and Ryder Cup legend José María Olazábal recently visited Costa Navarino, a premier golf destination in Greece, to present the designs for the two new golf courses set to open for play in 2021.
More specifically, the 18-hole courses will stretch over 308.88 acres (1,250 stremmas) on a plateau at Navarino Hills, offering stunning views of the historic Navarino Bay, the Ionian Sea and the natural landscape of Messinia.
“I feel proud for having the opportunity to design the new courses in this unique location… It is truly enchanting,” José María Olazábal said during his visit.
The par-72 courses will have a length of 6,466 and 6,280 meters, offering multiple game options: The first will be designed for tournaments providing golf players with many challenges, while the second will be suitable for golfers of all levels.
“It is a great responsibility for us to create two courses in line with the natural environment. We have a long way to go until the project is completed. We look forward to the day we welcome the first golf players,” José María Olazábal added.
The new courses – expected to operate in 2021 – will bring the total number of signature golf courses at Costa Navarino to four, all within a 13km distance.
“We share the same vision with José María Olazábal for adopting sustainable development practices. We look forward to the next steps of this special project, which reflects the high level and quality of Costa Navarino,” said Stephanos Theodorides, Vice-president and Managing Director of TEMES, the developer of Costa Navarino.
The resort also features two luxury hotels, The Westin Resort Costa Navarino and The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort; the private Navarino Residences; five-star sports and culture facilities and services.
With the addition of the new golf courses, the management of Costa Navarino aims at making Messinia a destination for all seasons.
