Athens Funding Fresh Ideas to Brighten Up City Life
Do you have innovative ideas on how to improve your neighborhood? The Municipality of Athens invites you to submit your plans and if selected receive subsidies to put the plan into motion.
Under the second round of the city intervention POLI² pilot project, the municipality is welcoming creative proposals for small-scale interventions to buildings, streets and neighborhoods of Athens.
The Athens municipality has set aside 12,000 euros to fund fresh ideas by Athens residents and professionals that will brighten up the urban setting.
“We are calling on the citizens of Athens to participate with creative and imaginative proposals and join us in improving the image and the operation of Athens neighborhoods,” said the city’s mayor, Giorgos Kaminis.
Proposals to be taken into consideration in the second round should focus on: seating and socializing areas; child-friendly structures; service structures in waiting areas (public transport and school entrances, health centers etc ); green spaces; energy-producing projects; shading, lighting and road projects.
For its citizens initiatives aiming to improve the resiliency and sustainability of urban settings, Athens was named European Capital of Innovation for 2018 earlier this month.
Interested parties – including residents, clubs, NGOs, professionals and companies – can learn more about city intervention projects and download the application on www.polis2.thisisathens.org.
Proposals and supporting documents should be submitted in hard copy to the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (ΕΑΤΑ), 7 Xenofontos St, 1st floor, by December 24, 4pm.
