Open Cellars in Greece for Wine Tourism Day

Greek wine producers and their cellars will be open to the wine-loving public on SundayNovember 11, marking European Wine Tourism Day.

First to take action are the Wine Producers of Northern Greece, who will welcome visitors and connoisseurs wishing to sample the latest production, tour cellars and vineyards, as well as taste vintage varieties on Sunday, between 11am and 5pm.

Wines of Northern Greece is a member of the European Wine Cities Network (RECEVIN), and is participating in the event for the sixth consecutive year with its “Wine Roads of Northern Greece” program, which includes over 17 wineries and eight vineyard routes.

Besides the Wines of Northern Greece, Vineyards of Attica, Wines of the Peloponnese, Aegean Islands Wines, and Wines of Crete are also participating in the celebratory events.

Launched in 2009, European Day of Wine Tourism, invites wine lovers to a series of events held across Europe, aimed at stimulating enotourism and promoting European wines. This year, 600 cities and municipalities will be participating in the annual celebration.

In the meantime, marking European Wine Tourism Day, the 34th Philoxenia tourism fair and the Central Macedonia Region have organized a wine tasting event on Sunday at 11am at the I. Vellidis Congress Center.
