British airline flybmi and Turkish Airlines have signed a codeshare agreement, which provides flybmi passengers with the option to fly from the UK and Ireland to Istanbul.
Under the new partnership, business and leisure travelers will be able to book their flights via flybmi.com and enjoy travel from Manchester, London Heathrow and Dublin to the Turkish metropolis.
“The new codeshare agreement is taking us to Turkey for the first time in the airline’s history. This is yet another step for flybmi in building a comprehensive network of strategic airline partnerships that allows us to reach new customers and widen our overall network reach, “said Jochen Schnadt, Chief Commercial Officer of flybmi.
The codeshare will also open up new routes within Europe for flybmi, as travelers will be able to fly from Istanbul to Brussels, Paris, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Oslo.
“This agreement with Turkish Airlines is part of our overarching strategy to further improve connectivity to/from our network of key business regions throughout Europe,” Schnadt added.
In return, Turkish Airlines customers will enjoy the benefits of flying on eight of flybmi’s European routes including inbound routes from Brussels to Newcastle and East Midlands; Norrköping and Saarbrücken to Munich; Oslo to Aberdeen and Hamburg; Dusseldorf and Paris to Bristol.
“We are pleased to have signed this codeshare agreement with flybmi… We aim to maximize the travel opportunities offered to our passengers through the networks of both airlines,” said Ahmet Bolat, Chief Investment and Technology Officer of Turkish Airlines.
Flybmi currently operates over 600 scheduled flights per week across a network of 45 destinations in 12 European countries. The airline is represented in Greece by Discover the World.
Celebrating 85 years of operation, Turkish Airlines has a fleet of 329 (passenger and cargo) aircraft flying to 304 worldwide destinations in 122 countries.
