Thessaloniki’s 83rd TIF Lived its Own ‘American Dream’ with 283,853 Visitors

By attracting 283,853 visitors, the 83rd Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), lived its own “American Dream” last week (September 8-16) at the TIF-Helexpo Center in Thessaloniki.

According to organizer TIF-Helexpo, the fair attracted 20,129 visitors more compared to last year’s organization, making the TIF 2018 edition the largest in the past 20 years.

“With slogans on extroversion, entrepreneurship and innovation and the event’s highlight being the USA’s participation as Honored Country, the 83rd TIF was the focus of interest for nine days in Thessaloniki and the wider region,” TIF-Helexpo said in an announcement.

During the 83rd TIF, visitors and professionals had the chance to meet mega American corporations and their technological achievements, as well as more than 100 Greek startups in the “Digital Greece” theme park.

The event this year attracted 20 foreign state participations, 48 chambers and 360 of their member companies and presented various thematic sections, from beauty and gastronomy to education and motoring.

The 83rd TIF also included cultural events, dozens of parallel events and a music festival every evening of the fair, during which some of Greece’s most popular singers and musicians appeared on stage.

The highlight of TIF’s music festival was the fair’s last day, which came to a close with a memorable performance of the Blues Brothers who took the stage for their “Approved” show.

“TIF-Helexpo will see you all next September for the 84th TIF, where India will step in as Honored Country,” the organizer said.

The annual Thessaloniki International Fair is considered the largest business, industry, political and trade event in SE Europe that brings together professionals and buyers from across Greece and the broader region, representing a market of 100 million consumers.

The 83rd TIF was held under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior (Macedonia-Thrace sector).
