The island of Corfu in the Ionian sea is among the candidate filming locations for the South African “Survivor”-like reality TV show “Tropika Island of Treasure”, which is broadcast on SABC 3 (South African Broadcasting Corporation 3).
A five-member delegation visited the island on September 8-9 and toured its west coast which includes the beaches of Halikouna, Issos, Gardenos, Arkoudila, Liapades, Rovinia, as well as the town of Paleokastritsa.
“They were impressed by the locations they visited,” an announcement by the Region of the Ionian said. If Corfu is selected by the producers, the reality TV show will be filmed in fall 2019.
The ninth series of the “Tropika Island of Treasure” is offering the grand winner a prize of 1 million rand (66,666 euros). According to an announcement, the eighth series, filmed on the Maldives, came second in TV rates during the season in the country.
