Greece and Moldova Seek Ways to Boost Tourism Cooperation

Ways to boost bilateral tourism cooperation between Greece and Moldova was the main issue on the agenda during a recent meeting in Athens between Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and the Ambassador of Moldova to Greece Anatol Vangheli.

During the meeting, Minister Kountoura informed the Moldovan Ambassador that Greece will participate in the third edition of the UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism, organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization in Chisinau, Moldova, during 6-9 September.

The minister and the Moldovan Ambassador agreed for discussions of tourism cooperation between the two countries to continue within the framework of conference.

Among the topics to be discussed will be the provision of know-how from Greece to Moldova in the field of tourism development.

3rd UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism

Within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism seeks to explore issues related to sustainable rural development through tourism and, especially, engage in advancing the pivotal role wine tourism can play in fostering local development.

The conference will bring together international participants ranging from public entities, Destination Management Organizations (DMOs), international and intergovernmental organizations as well as private sector stakeholders.

Greece will be represented by the tourism ministry’s director general for tourism policy, Panagiota Dionysopoulou.

Throughout the sessions, dynamic discussions and expert presentations will advance in topics such as overcoming challenges in wine tourism, Public-Private Partnerships for rural wine development and inclusive tourism practices.
