This week we introduce Vartholomaios Lyrarakis, general director of Lyrarakis Wines, a family-owned winery based on the island of Crete, Greece.
Lyrarakis Wines was established in 1966 by Vartholomaios Lyrarakis’ father and uncle and today the company has passed to the second generation.
It is known in the industry, and to a specific group of consumers, as a company that produces wines exclusively consisted of native varieties.
“As far as I’m concerned, wine is a very important product affecting the image of Greece abroad, since it promotes authentic Greece. It also promotes Greece as a proud country, which produces exceptional wines and is able to stand worthily next to major worldwide players,” Lyrarakis said.
Lyrarakis Wines recently concluded the revamp of the company’s image, product line and overall strategy. These actions have helped the company move forward and expand in exports.
Inspired by the dynamism and creativity of the Greek entrepreneurial spirit, LoveGreece was founded in 2013 as an initiative to boost and promote the country’s image abroad by profiling talented and successful Greeks.
