Greece’s Tourism Body SETE Calls for Solution to Sept. 3 Ferry Strike
The Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) is calling on the Shipping Minister to intervene so to prevent the 24-hour strike of the Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) announced for September 3.
“More than 3 million foreign tourists are expected to visit Greece in September,” SETE underlined in an official letter to Shipping Minister Panagiotis Kouroublis.
“This is the third most important month in international arrivals for Greece after August and July and with a much higher performance than in June,” the confederation said, adding that nearly 10 percent of the country’s total direct tourism revenue is collected in September.
SETE is calling for the minister to “make every effort to intervene” in order to “avoid blocking the access of foreign visitors and Greeks to a significant number of destinations in the country”.
