Greece Launches Online Ticket Service for Admission to Museums, Sites

Visitors of certain archaeological sites, monuments and museums in Athens, Crete and the Peloponnese can now buy tickets online, the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports announced on Thursday.

Through the official e-ticketing service – etickets.tap.gr – visitors can purchase e-tickets for admission to the Acropolis and the archaeological sites of Athens’ historic center; the archaeological site of Knossos; the Heraklion Archeological Museum and the archaeological area and museum of Ancient Messini.

The e-ticketing service is expected to gradually operate for admission to more Greek museums and sites.

According to the ministry, tickets should only be bought online or at the official ticket offices or, in case of groups, through licensed travel and tourist agencies.

The e-ticketing service is operated by the ministry’s Archaeological Resources Fund and funded by the National Bank of Greece and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
