GB Roof Garden, Tudor Hall Restaurants Receive ‘Best Award of Excellence’
The GB Roof Garden restaurant of Hotel Grande Bretagne and the Tudor Hall of the King George Hotel, for the fifth consecutive year have been honored with the “Best Award of Excellence” for their wine lists at the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards 2018.
Wine Spectator is a lifestyle magazine and since 1976 focuses on the culture of wine. Its awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. The winners of the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards 2018 came from 75 countries.
The Best Award of Excellence this year was granted to 1,215 restaurants, recognizing the wide regional variety, quality and superior presentation of their wines.
“The two restaurants are the only ones in Athens included in the Wine Spectator’s list for having one of the most exceptional restaurant wine lists in the world,” the hotel’s management said in announcement.
“This honor is an inspiration to achieve further success and recognizes the continuous effort of Hotel Grande Bretagne and King George for delivering exceptional services and products to their guests.”
Sommelier Evangelos Psofidis has a significant knowledge, distinctions and passion for wines and spirits. The wine lists of GB Roof Garden and Tudor Hall represent the largest wine-producing regions of the world and feature their distinctive characteristics.
“The two restaurants’ philosophy focuses on ‘food pairing wine’, which means that the ultimate culinary experience can be achieved when fine dishes are perfectly matched with high-quality wines,” the announcement said.
