Crete’s Minos Beach Hotel Celebrates 25 Years of Blue Flags
The Minos Beach Art Hotel, located in Agios Nikolaos on the island of Crete, is celebrating 25 years of Blue Flag awards, as its beach once again received the quality eco-label.
A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and bluegr Hotels & Resorts, Minos Beach remains loyal to the strict criteria set by the Blue Flag program, one of the most significant eco-labels of quality globally: the cleanliness of the water and coastline; the management of the beach; the safety of its visitors; the protection of the natural environment; the education of staff and visitors on sustainable tourism practices.
According to an announcement, “the award is a clear recognition of the group’s philosophy to respect the environment and apply sustainability policies”.
Furthermore, two more hotels of the bluegr group on Crete, the Minos Palace Hotel & Suites and the Candia Park Village, received the Blue Flag eco-label. Both hotels have been receiving the award for more than a decade.
After Spain with 590 Blue Flag beaches in 2018, Greece ranked second among 47 countries with 519 Blue Flag awards. A total of 113 Blue Flag beaches are located on Crete.
Bluegr Hotels & Resorts includes five hotels in Athens and on the islands of Crete and Rhodes, among them the Life Gallery Athens in the northern suburbs of the Greek capital and the Miramare Suites & Vllas on Rhodes.
