Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Zeus International recently launched the Wyndham Athens Residence in the Greek capital, the newest addition to the group’s global portfolio of properties.

An investment of 5 million euros, the Wyndham Athens Residence is located at Karaiskaki Square in the area of Metaxourgio, and is the group’s first property operating under the “Wyndham Residence” brand in the world. It is also the seventh property of Wyndham in Greece.

The Wyndham Athens Residence is housed in a fully renovated building and features a total of 89 fully equipped apartment-style suites. Each guestroom offers a wide range of amenities such as a mini kitchenette, a convertible sofa sleeper, espresso machine and luxurious bathroom products. Its flexible connecting rooms are easily converted into two-bedroom apartments, making Wyndham Athens Residence a family-friendly option.

Modern facilities at Wyndham Athens Residence also include a business corner, concierge services, smart access with mobile app, VIP check in, a fully equipped fitness center and a rooftop bar and restaurant located on the sixth floor with a stunning view of Athens and the Lycabettus Hill.

Guests can also make the most of the exceptional facilities of the neighboring Wyndham Grand Athens, including the outdoor pool, spa, parking and restaurants.

A dynamic start

Wyndham’s “Residence” concept has already attracted the interest of travelers to Athens, as occupancy rates during its first month of operation reached 74 percent, and are estimated to reach 80 percent in August.

Starting from Athens, Wyndham plans to expand the new concept further, by opening a second property in Athens’ city center in 2019, and continue to other locations in Greece and the rest of the world.

“The aim of Wyndham Athens Residence is to offer comfortable long-term accommodation in the city centre, at affordable prices. It is ideal for families and younger travelers”, Haris Siganos, Chief Executive Officer of Zeus International told reporters during a press conference last week.

“Wyndham is present wherever there are travelers… and aims to offer tourism products for every traveler,” he added.

“Athens is trendy”

We strongly believe that Athens is set to become one of the leading destinations in Europe. Athens is trendy,” said Dimitris Manikis, President and Managing Director for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts in EMEA.

“Athens is the new Berlin, hosting numerous cultural events every week at so many cultural venues. It is also the only European capital with four “Blue Flag” awarded beaches within a distance of 20 minutes from the city center [by car]… It is also a safe destination,” Manikis added.

Since entering the Greek market in 2016, the Wyndham hotel group operates eight hotels, among them Wyndham Grand Athens in the Greek capitalWyndham Loutraki Poseidon Resort and the Ramada Loutraki Poseidon Resort in Loutraki near Corinth; and the Dolce Attica Riviera in Vravrona, East Attica. Zeus International is the group’s strategic partner in the Balkan region.
