Rhodes Records Rising Tourist Figures in June
The Greek island of Rhodes welcomed 34,238 more visitors in June this year compared to the same month in 2017, posting a 9.27 percent rise, according to arrival data released by Fraport Greece, the island’s airport operator.
According to Fraport, total passenger traffic through Rhodes International Airport “Diagoras” increased to 403,497 travelers in June compared to 369,259 in June 2017, marking a 10.3 percent rise in total incoming traffic in the first half of the year to 1,873,906 travelers.
The largest number of inbound travelers to Rhodes were from the UK, Germany and Sweden, followed by Polish visitors, Russians, Italians and Israelis.
Other Fraport Airports
Meanwhile, in relevant news, Fraport, which is also the operator of 13 other regional airports in Greece, announced that passenger traffic increased by 10.9 percent in June at all its airports, reaching a total of 4,361 million passengers, driven by a 13.4 percent rise in the number of foreign arrivals, up by 3,773 million.
In the first six months of the year, Fraport Greece airports posted an 11 percent increase in the number of arrivals to 10,617 million passengers up by 1.1 million passengers compared to the the first half of 2017.
Indicatively, passenger traffic at Santorini Airport grew by 20.5 percent, by 18 percent on Corfu, 17 percent on Mykonos, 16.6 percent on Kos and 23.5 percent on Kefalonia.
