Developing the attractiveness of the seaside town of Katakolo through cruise tourism was among the main topics touched by Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura during a meeting with Katakolo Port Authority (Pyrgos Municipal Port Fund) President Leonidas Varouksis.
During the meeting, Varouksis briefed the minister on the port fund’s immediate priorities as well as on the actions that have been taken with regard to the port’s land area. Both agreed to seek solutions aimed at further improving the port’s operation and the service of passengers and the development of its cruise potential.
Also discussed were ways to enrich the area’s tourism offerings with new thematic tourism products and experiences combined with a visit to Ancient Olympia and the local shops.
Kountoura and Varouksis also referred to promoting Pyrgos as a stopover tourism destination to attract more cruise visitors and this way help contribute to the economic and development of the local communities.
