Turkish Airlines Celebrates 10 Years as Star Alliance Member
Turkish Airlines recently celebrated its 10th anniversary since joining the Star Alliance network, which was established in 1997 as the first global airline alliance to offer worldwide reach, recognition and seamless service to international travelers.
“Turkish Airlines will continue to be a valuable partner of Star Alliance and its members; as an important element for our common strategy that will enable the Alliance to move forward with solid footprints,” Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee M. İlker Aycı said during an event held at the company’s headquarters in Istanbul with the participation of Star Alliance CEO Jeffrey Goh.
“We are sure that we will have more constructive partnerships within this big family, by working towards the desired goal of making further successes in the forthcoming period,” he added.
Turkish Airlines joined Star Alliance as its 20th member in April 2008, adding 31 destinations to the network. Today it makes Star Alliance’s presence available at 72 unique destinations in the world.
“In the last ten years Turkish Airlines has played an important role in developing Star Alliance’s global network, especially improving access to Turkey, Central Asia and the Middle East… Today we shift the Alliance’s focus to improving the customer journey by leveraging digital technology,” said Jeffrey Goh.
Together with other 27 Star Alliance members, the flag carrier of Turkey offers a wide choice of flights that connect people and cultures around the World. Furthermore, Turkish Airlines’ Miles & Smiles Program members can make use of the full Star Alliance FFP (Frequent Flyers Programs) benefits.
