Athens 1st TravelFest Debuts with a Spotlight on Adventure

Aiming to cover the needs of the experiences-seeking traveler, the 1st TravelFest was recently held at the Dais Cultural & Sports Center in Maroussi.

Organizers of the two-day show, which ran April 21-22, aim for it to evolve into a networking and information hub for those “who love travel, nature, action and adventure” bringing together experts, travelers and travel-related businesses and services providers under one a roof.

TravelFest debuted this year with 14 speakers who shared their adventures with the public including stories about travels across Africa by motorcycle (Ilias Vrochidis), exploring Asia on bike (Alexandros Zilos), discovering the Alps (Kostas Katsigiannis), touring the Yucatan in Mexico (Yabatravellers), reaching the peak of Mt Everest (Antonis Sykaris and Mike Evmorfidis), the Antarctica experience (Christos Lambiris of Trekking Hellas) and an 8,000-kilometer-long journey across Europe and Asia by train (Maria Kofou), among others.

Visitors also had the chance to learn more about planning adventure trips and potential “traps”, traveling with kids, the secrets of travel photography, traveling with disability, and much more.

“The goal of TravelFest is to serve as a source of inspiration for every new traveler, but also to bring together people who love travel, experienced travelers and businesses for an interactive experience that offers knowhow, ideas and activities,” said organizer Manos Lianopoulos of tripment.net.
