No Ferries in Greece on April 18 due to 24-hour Strike

Ferries in Greece will remain docked on Wednesday, April 18, due to a 24-hour strike announced by the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO).

The federation said it will hold the strike from 6am on Wednesday and end it at 6 am the next day.

The 24-hour strike has been announced in protest of a Shipping Ministry decision that allows cargo ships to sail with the minimum number of crew required for safe manning.

“The problems faced by seamen are getting worse and heightened even more with the ever-advancing new ‘provisions’ and continuous cuts,” PNO said in an announcement.

According to PNO, the ministry’s decision threatens jobs.

Travelers that have booked ferry tickets are advised to check with their travel agents or contact local port authorities for further information
