Forbes Introduces 10 Places to Visit in Greece in Summer 2018
“Greece may still be fiscally flabby but it’s shaping up to be one of the world’s hottest destinations this summer.”
Greek capital Athens, the northern port city of Thessaloniki and some of the most popular Greek islands are among the 10 destinations Forbes.com suggests for summer holidays this year.
In an article titled “10 Places You Need To Visit in Greece this Summer”, travel reporter Anthony Grant refers to Athens as the top choice, followed by Lake Vouliagmeni in Attica and Thessaloniki in second and third position respectively.
“In recent years Athens has emerged as a great city break destination and the country as a whole still offers better value for your money than other Mediterranean hot spots like Spain and Italy,” Grant says.
The Aegean island of Milos ranked fourth, followed by Paros, Crete (north and south side), Karpathos, Corfu and Attica in the tenth place.
Karpathos featured for its authenticity and beaches
The island of Karpathos, the second largest island of the Dodecanese, was once again highlighted by Forbes.com for its nature and unique beaches.
According to the Grant, compared to the neighboring islands of Rhodes and Patmos “slender Karpathos is arguably more authentic and has better beaches”.
“Forbes once again honors Karpathos,” Michalis Lytos, president of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Karpathos, said in an announcement.
In a feature published in January, Forbes.com had also included Karpathos among the best budget places to travel in 2018. Furthermore, CNN Travel has highlighted the Dodecanese island as a “must-see destination” in Greece.
