Eurocert to Certify ‘Greek Breakfast Basket’ Initiative

Greek hotels and accommodation facilities participating in the Greek Breakfast Basket initiative will be undergoing inspections in order to receive a special label certifying the quality of goods offered.

The Greek Confederation of Tourist Accommodation Enterprises (SETKE) initiative debuted last year and aims to spur cooperation between local producers and hoteliers while promoting quality Greek products and local cuisine to visitors.

The inspections will be carried out by accreditation agency Eurocert in collaboration with the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE), which will in turn issue relevant certification that will be displayed at facilities participating in the project.

Guests at hotels and accommodation facilities are invited through the Greek Breakfast Basket initiative to become familiar with traditional breakfast items including a wide variety of locally produced cheeses, jams, sweets and much more while gaining insight into the way of life.

The initiative, which was launched last year at the Xenia 2017 hospitality show in Athens, was warmly welcomed by sector professionals, who are seeking ways to create synergies with local partners.

“It’s a basket full of wholesome, traditional products from each region, carrying genuine Greek flavors, together with freshness and quality… guaranteeing the best and the most delicious start of the day,” SETKE says of its project.
