Lovegreece.com Salutes Greek Wines with Athens Event
Some of Greece’s finest wines were presented during a wine tasting event recently held by the G & A Mamidakis Foundation through its Lovegreece.com initiative at the Life Gallery Athens Hotel, located in the northern suburb of Ecali.
Lovegreece.com’s special tribute to Greece’s wine production was held under the supervision of Konstantinos Lazarakis, the Greek ‘Master of Wine’, who presented 15 of the most promising Greek-label wines.
During the presentation, the 15 Greek wine producers that participated in the event had the opportunity to speak about the years of their experience in the vineyard.
Among other things the wine producers referred to the current climate and terrain challenges; the efforts being made to revive old grape varieties; the preservation of certain varieties; the change of mindset regarding wines that until recently were inaccurately considered inferior and the development of innovative biological cultivation techniques. Furthermore, they provided participants with tips on how to select quality wines.
“These were 15 stories of wineries that traveled us all to the most beautiful corners of Greece and gave us lessons about what can be achieved with talent, study and hard work,” Lovegreece.com said in an announcement.
All guests had the opportunity to sample the Greek wines and “finger food” recipes, as well as discuss with the 15 wine producers. Carefully selected by Konstantinos Lazarakis, all wines presented were produced by local varieties with the use of innovative practices.
An initiative of the G& A Mamidakis Foundation and its president Gina Mamidakis, Lovegreece.com aims to promote Greece and Greek entrepreneurs abroad.
A video with interviews given by the 15 Greek wine producers will soon be available on the Lovegreece.com website.
