Ionian Islands Expect Increasing Tourist Inflows from The Netherlands
All the more Dutch travelers appear to have their sights set on holidays in Greece, and particularly in the Ionian, according to forecasts made during the Vakandiebeurs 2018 travel show held in Utrecht, Holland, last month.
Participating in the show, Ionian Island Region officials met with Dutch tour operators and tourism professional who re-affirmed the increasing number for pre-bookings for the islands.
“The upward trend in bookings is the result of strategic planning and targeted actions towards the visibility of the islands, which are an ideal holiday destination all year round,” said Spyros Galiatsatos, Vice Governor of Tourism and Promotion for the Ionian Islands Region.
Kefallonia and Ithaki were at the center of the Greek tourism campaign in Utrecht, while event participants had the chance to learn more about all the Ionian islands and their tourism offerings as well as sample local delicacies and products including wines, cheese, and the famed Mantoles sweets.
During the show, a large Dutch tour operator expressed interest to offer financial backing to new investments in luxury tourism.
In the meantime, Greece was selected by Dutch travelers as the destination with the best restaurants on tourism platform reisgraag.nl.
