Etihad Donates School Supplies to Syrian Refugee Children in Greece

Syrian refugee children in Greece receive their special Etihad packs.

Etihad Aviation Group (EAG) has donated school and home supplies to more than one thousand Syrian refugee children at the Ritsona refugee camp near Athens.

A delegation recently visited the camp to present the donation to the Emirates Red Crescent. The delegation was headed by senior diplomats from the UAE Embassy in Greece, as well as volunteers from the Etihad Abu Dhabi and Athens team, and Emirates Red Crescent volunteers.

The event coincided with the United Nations Universal Children’s Day (November 20) and supported the global education initiative to help underprivileged students pursue their studies.

“We are pleased to continue our Year of Giving project work, focusing on Syrian refugee children around the region, and provide them with these items which particularly assists them with their studies,” Khaled Al Mehairbi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Etihad Airport Services Ground – Abu Dhabi Hub, and Chairman of the Etihad Sports and Social Committee, said.

The donation included stationery sets, story books, garments, blankets, socks and activity packs.

“The children have had to endure such tough times and so to be able to show our support will hopefully make a big difference,” he added.

Etihad Aviation Group made the donation through a series of fundraisers and volunteer events in Abu Dhabi, including its sixth Annual Ramadan Charity Football Tournament.
