Greece Top Choice for Polish Travelers Backed by 30 New Flights

Thirty new direct flights to Greek destinations are boosting the Poles’ interest in Greece which now holds 31 percent of the market share, according to findings presented at the 3rd Grecka Panorama-Greek Food Show 2017 held at the PGE Narodowy stadium in Warsaw last week.

Besides Greek destinations gaining ground, so were Greek products including olive oil, olives, wine and cheeses, which were on offer during the 3rd Grecka Panorama-Greek Food Show organized by tourism consultants North Events.

According to data presented by Polish tour operators during the MICE & PIT Forum, Greece is the leading destination of choice for Polish travelers with a market share of more than 31 percent, up by 8 percent in the May-August period compared with the same period in 2016. Spain follows at 16.5 percent, up by 1.3 percent, and Bulgaria with a 9 percent market share, up by 11 percent.

At the same time, Polish market insiders said demand for Greece will continue its upward momentum into 2018. For the upcoming season, direct flights out of 10 airports in Poland will serve some 30 Greek destinations, while new destinations including Limnos and Chios have been added for the first time.

According to estimates, the Polish market is set to account for over 1 million arrivals to Greece in 2017.

The number of visitors to this year’s Grecka Panorama grew by 19 percent with over 8,350 exhibitors and delegates including regional and municipal authorities, tour operators, hotel and tourism companies from across Greece, who presented participants with information on destinations, services and holiday deals.

Visitors also had the chance to indulge in genuine Greek cuisine and learn more about Greece’s wealth of products.
