Greece, Italy Discuss Tourism Cooperation
Ways to strengthen the cooperation of Greece and Italy on tourism issues were discussed between Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and the Ambassador of Italy to Greece Luigi Marras earlier this week.
The discussion focused on tourism arrivals from Italy to Greece and the potential of further growth, as well as on the promotion of thematic tourism, with emphasis in both countries’ natural and cultural features.

The meeting took place a few weeks after Minister Kountoura met with Italy’s minister for cultural heritage, activities and tourism, Dario Francescini, during the Greece-Italy High-level Cooperation Council, which was held in September on Corfu. Kountoura had then proposed the reactivation of the Greece-Italy Joint Tourism Committee to strengthen bilateral tourism activities between the two countries.
Futhermore, Franceschini and Greek Culture Minister Lydia Koniordou, during the event, signed a memorandum of cooperation οn culture, in efforts to prevent the illicit trafficking of antiquities and protect cultural heritage.
