New Boutique Hotel to Open in Athens
Greek construction company Intrakat on Wednesday announced that it will open a new boutique hotel in Athens in 2019.
The construction company signed a deal for the 20-year lease of a building owned by the Army Pension Fund located on 3-5 Kolokotroni Street in central Athens for a monthly price of 40,000 euros.
“Our choice to lease an emblematic listed building in the heart of Athens and transform it into a boutique hotel, is part of our group’s strategy of focusing on the ‘golden’ tourism destinations of our country,” Intrakat’s CEO, Petros Souretis, said.
Following necessary renovation works, the three-storey listed building of 4,160 square meters will operate as a 45-room boutique hotel and open its doors in 2019.
“Athens is showing clear signs of growth and increased demand from foreign visitors who search for high aesthetics and a premium hospitality experience, elements that fit our philosophy of hosting services,” Souretis added.
One of the top five construction companies in Greece, Intrakat has a growing international presence and undertakes advanced technology infrastructure, renewable energy, telecom, real estate and environmental projects.
Intrakat is active in the tourism sector through Intradevelopment, which focuses on the development of residential, commercial and tourism properties in Greece.
The company is also planning to revamp Aiolos, one of the first hotels in Athens located on 3-5 Aeolou Street and Hadrianos Square in Plaka and owned by Greek renowned entrepreneur, Spyros Bairaktaris. The historic hotel dates back to 1835 and Intrakat has plans to turn it into a boutique hotel.
