Sky Express and Amadeus Enter Strategic Partnership

Greek airline Sky Express is joining forces with travel technology provider Amadeus to make its content available to travel agents connected to Amadeus’ system worldwide.

This will enable Sky Express to continue its growth strategy and expansion by connecting its brand to travelers globally, through the world’s largest travel community, an announcement said. The airline will also be able to access new markets, partners and technology; to personalize and differentiate its offering and deliver a consistent shopping experience across all channels.

With rich culture and history, comprising 18 UNESCO World Heritage sites and a great number of idyllic islands, Greece remains a popular tourism destination worldwide. In 2016, travel and tourism contributed 7.5 percent to Greece’s GDP, and this is forecast to grow substantially over the next 10 years. Sky Express, which is currently flying to 30 destinations – all popular islands – in Greece, is set to benefit from that growth.

“Sky Express is a trusted brand with a strong track record in the Greek market. As we look to grow our global customer base, we need to make sure that our content is available to as many travelers as possible, and is easily bookable worldwide. Our partnership with Amadeus will enable us to maximize revenue by making our content available to its global network of travel agents,” said Yannis Lidakis, CEO Commercial Manager of Sky Express.

Sky Express now joins more than 440 airlines, including more than 90 LCCs and Hybrids, whose fares and merchandising content are bookable through Amadeus’ global distribution channel.

“Our aim in Amadeus is to support our airline and travel agency customers so that they can leverage the best technology in the marketplace, in order to reach more travelers and drive more revenue. Sky Express will now benefit from our unparalleled global network of corporations, travel management companies, travel agents and market reach,” said Eva Karamanou, General Manager Greece and Cyprus of Amadeus IT Group.

Sky Express is currently flying to 30 destinations in Greece, connecting the most popular Greek Islands with the mainland. Its fleet consists of new technology ATR aircrafts. It has been awarded by ERA as the 2014/15 airline of the year.

Amadeus is a leading provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel industry. Customer groups include travel providers (among them airlines, hotels, rail and ferry operators), travel sellers (travel agencies and websites) and travel buyers (corporations and travel management companies).
